  • The L Trail, part of the Winter Grooming Snowmobile system for over-snow vehicle (OSV)/snowmobile use, is a popular short loop around the base of 8,352-foot Lookout Mountain to the east of Hwy 395. Groomed and marked with orange diamonds, the trail begins and ends at its junctions with the A Trail to the east of Hwy 395. Near the southern junction, a marked but ungroomed trail climbs US Forest Service Road 2S02 to the summit for grand, 360-degree views across the volcanic landscape of the Long Valley Caldera to the Sierra Nevada and the Glass Mountains.
